Carbs will give you energy but you need to eat them several hours before exercise, like running or skateboarding, otherwise they may make you feel sluggish. A great source of carbs is found in pasta, any kind.
Better than any single food though is maintaining a healthy diet. "You are what you eat," as they say. A steady balanced diet, including all four food groups -- dairy, meat, grains, vegetables/fruits-- will build strong muscles, bones and give you more energy than you thought imaginable. Try to steer cleer of sugary foods, sodas and empty calorie foods like cookies and chips.
